Introduction:

Those quantities which can be measured and expressed with some numerical value are called physical quantities. There are two types of physical quantities: fundamental and derived.

1. Fundamental quantities: The physical quantities, which are independent of other quantities, are known as fundamental quantities. For example: mass, length, time, temperature etc.

2. Derived quantities: The physical quantities, which can be expressed in terms of other fundamental quantities, are called derived quantities. For example; velocity, acceleration, force, work etc.
