Climbing
High up in the apple tree climbing I go,
With the sky above me, the earth below.
Each branch is the step of a wonderful stair
Which leads to the town I see shining up there.
Climbing, climbing, higher and higher,
The branches blow and I see a spire,
The gleam of a turret, the glint of a dome,
All sparkling and bright, like white sea foam.
On and on, from bough to bough,
The leaves are thick, but I push my way through;
Before, I have always had to stop,
But to-day I am sure I shall reach the top.
Today to the end of the marvelous stair,
Where those glittering pinnacles flash in the air!
Climbing, climbing, higher I go,
With the sky close above me, the earth far below.

Pratap Malla was one of the most famous kings of Malla Dynasty. He constructed some magnificent and beautiful architectural structure around Kathmandu. The way he came to the throne is very interesting and controversial at the same time. He had the experience of administration even when his father was alive. When his father Laxmi Nara Singh’s madness grew worse, he imprisoned his father and he himself ruled as a regent of his father in Kantipur.
He was an able administrator. Kantipur was highly developed during his reign. Trade with Lhasa (Tibet) was also going on well. By his tact he was making the kings of Lalitpur and Bhaktapur play against each other. Sometimes he sided with Bhaktapur and posed a threat to Lalitpur. On other occasions, he aligned with Lalitpur and fell upon Bhaktapur.
Pratap Malla was a religious-minded person. He built a beautiful temple at Guhyeshwari and fenced it. He renovated the temple of Pashupatinath and raised a pinnacle over it. At Swayambhu he built Pratappur, Kachhendrapur and many other temples and also set up a copper gilt ‘Bajra’. He also renovated the temples and Basuki Bhimsen, Taleju and Degutale. With a view to warding off evils, he erected an image of Hanuman, the monkey god, by the side of his palace gate and called the palace Hanumandhoka. He erected the golden gate of the palace, set up an image of Nri Simha, Kal Bhairab and Vishwaroop at Layaku Bahi. Inside the palace, he also set up Sundari Chowk and Mohan Chowk. A pond was dug at Bhandarkhal and filled with water brought from Budhanilakantha. He installed an image of Narayan lying in the pond, an exact replica from Budhanilakantha Temple.

Nobel Prize is any of the prizes (five in number until 1969, when a sixth was added) awarded annually from a fund bequeathed for that purpose by the Swedish inventor and industrialist Alfred Nobel. The Nobel Prizes are widely regarded as the world’s most prestigious awards for intellectual achievement.
In his will drafted in 1895, Nobel instructed that most of his fortune be set aside as a fund for the awarding of five annual prizes “to those who, during the preceding year, shall have conferred the greatest benefit on mankind.” These prizes as established by his will are the Nobel Prize for Physics, Chemistry, Physiology or Medicine, Literature and Peace respectively.
The first distribution of the prizes took place on December 10, 1901, the fifth anniversary of Nobel’s death. An additional award in Economic Sciences in memory of Alfred Nobel, was established in 1968 by the Bank of Sweden and was first awarded in 1969. Although not technically a Nobel Prize, it is identified with the award; its winners are announced with the Nobel Prize recipients and the Prize in Economic Sciences is presented at the Nobel Prize Award Ceremony.
After Nobel’s death, the Nobel Foundation was set up to carry out the provisions of his will and to administer his funds. In his will, he had stipulated that four different institutions – three Swedish and one Norwegian – should award the prizes. From Stockholm, the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences confers the prizes for Physics, Chemistry and Economic Sciences, the Karolinska Institute confers the prize for Physiology or Medicine, and the Swedish Academy confers the prize for Literature.
The Norwegian Nobel Committee based on Oslo, Norway confers the prize for peace. The Nobel Foundation is the legal owner and functional administrator of the funds and serves as the joint administrative body of the prize awarding institutions, but it is not concerned with prize deliberations or decisions.

6. Develop a Readable Story in About 100 Words with the Help of the Given Clues. Also Supply a Suitable Title and a Moral (5)
four cows in a jungle ... close to each other ... do everything together ... no predators can attack ... a lion ... makes a plan to attack ... not possible to kill ... thinks of a new idea ... spreads rumours ... with the help of other animals ... able to create a rivalry among them ... go in different directions ... attacks one after another
The Four Cows and the Clever Lion
In a big jungle, there lived four cows who were very good friends, and they always stayed close to each other because they loved doing everything together, like eating grass, drinking water, and walking around the jungle. They were so united that no predators, like tigers or lions, could attack them because the cows were too strong when they were together as a group, and they always protected each other from any danger that came their way. Their friendship was so strong that everyone in the jungle admired them and knew they were safe.
One day, a clever lion saw the four cows and wanted to eat them, but he knew he could not attack them because they were always together and too powerful for him to fight. So, the lion made a smart plan to break their friendship, and he went to other animals, like the fox and the jackal, and asked them to spread bad rumors about the cows, saying that one cow was talking badly about the others. The rumors worked, and the cows started fighting with each other because they believed the lies and became very angry.
The cows, who were once so close, decided to go in different directions and not talk to each other anymore, and this made the lion very happy because now they were alone and weak. The lion easily attacked them one by one, and sadly, the cows could not protect themselves because they were not together anymore, and they all got hurt by the lion. This taught them a big lesson that they should never let rumors break their friendship.
Moral:We should stay united because unity gives us strength, but if we fight and separate, we become weak and easy to defeat.

Gaurab: You’re right. It’s a few hours away, but we can hire a bus. I’ll talk to our class teacher about arranging it. What about the date?
Sahin: How about next Saturday? Most students should be free then. We should also plan some activities like games and a picnic lunch.
Gaurab: Good idea! Let’s make a list of activities and food items. We’ll ask everyone to contribute a small amount for the trip. I’m sure it’ll be a fun day!

8. You are studying in abroad. Your sister in Nepal has asked you how she can improve her english. Write a letter to her in about 200 words suggesting the effective ways for Llearning english
123 International Street
London, UK
April 3, 2025
Dear Sister,
I hope you are doing well back home in Nepal, and I am so happy to hear from you because it means a lot to me that you are thinking about improving your English, which is a wonderful skill to have in today’s world. Since I am studying abroad here in London, I have learned many things about how to get better at English, and I want to share some of the best ways with you so that you can start practicing and feel confident too.
First, try to make English a part of your daily life by watching English movies or TV shows with subtitles because this will help you listen to how people speak and learn new words in a fun way, and you can even watch shows like your favorite cartoons or dramas that you enjoy. Second, reading is very important, so start with simple books like children’s stories or short articles, and slowly move to newspapers or novels because this will help you understand grammar and build your vocabulary step by step. Third, practice speaking every day by talking to yourself about your day or joining an English-speaking club at school if they have one, and don’t worry if you make mistakes because that is how we learn. You can also use apps like Duolingo or BBC Learning English, which are free and give you daily lessons to practice.
Lastly, writing is another great way to improve, so try keeping a diary in English where you write about your thoughts or what you did each day, and you can ask a friend or teacher to check it for you. I have found that practicing a little every day is better than studying a lot all at once, so make a small plan, like 30 minutes a day, and stick to it. When I first came here, I was nervous about speaking English, but with practice, I started feeling more comfortable, and I know you can do the same if you try. Please let me know how it goes, and if you need help, feel free to write to me anytime because I am always here for you. Take care and keep working hard!
Love,
Gaurab Subedi
